It appears that the long-sought-after (long fought after) casino slots gaming is ready to open in Maryland. Perryville, Maryland, will have the first of the slots casinos to open. The target date is Thursday, September 30, but an initial “test” opening to benefit charity worked so well that the State Gaming Commission approved the opening for a coupld of days early. So, Monday, September 27th it will be.

Perryville’s Hollywood Casino ready to open soon?

It looks as though construction is well underway for the new “Hollywood” Casino in Perryville, Maryland. It was originally thought that gaming would not be ready in Cecil County until sometime in 2011. However, construction estimates put a “possible” opening date sometime toward the end of 2010.

The parking area looks to be several times the size of the building itself. It certainly does look convenient to Interstate 95. Maybe all those buses headin to Delaware will be making shorter trips from Baltimore. Unless, of course, table gaming in Delaware attracts patrons – that may just bypass Perryville…

In November the Maryland constitutional amendment question passed by a large majority of Maryland voters. Evidently, the people of Maryland grew tired of having millions of gaming dollars going to neighboring states – such as Delaware, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Perryville is now being passes by all of the bus-loads of slots players heading up Interstate 95 (I-95) on their way to gaming parlors in Delaware. Why not stop in Perryville, which provides easy access from a major highway and a good location for some Delaware players to try the slots in Perryville.
